Mrinalini Sarabhai experienced childhood in Switzerland where she took in the Dalcroze strategy, a Western system of move developments. After coming back to India, she got her instruction at Shantiniketan, under the direction of Rabindranath Tagore.   • She married the prominent physicist Dr. Vikram Sarabhai and moved to his home in the city of Ahmedabad, in Gujarat. Dr. Sarabhai was a broad-minded person who encouraged her to pursue her passion for dancing.

Mrinalini Sarabhai was a celebrated Indian classical dancer. She was educated at Shantiniketan under the guidance of Rabindranath Tagore. Then she gone to United States for a short time to enrolled in the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. She took training in the south Indian classical dance form of Bharatanatyam under Meenakshi Sundaram Pillai and the classical dance-drama of Kathakali under the legendary guru Thakazhi Kunchu Kurup.
